The Royal Botanical Gardens

Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya that attract some 2 million visitors annually, is located about 5.5 km to the West of the Kandy city. Markedly famous for its arbour of orchids, the 147 acre Royal Botanical Gardens are also home to more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants, and palm trees. Formally established in 1843 with plants brought from Kew Garden, Slave Island, Colombo, and the Kalutara Garden in Kalutara, it’s a national treasure from a plant-biological perspective not to mention being a real treat to the eyes of all tourists who visit it. It’s situated some 5.4 km from The Radh Hotel.
